Merry Christmas Everyone! (Dec 25th, 2006)

Sorry a bit late, but just been having so much going on, getting ready for Christmas... Christmas day was so great! From Santa I got the most unexpected gift: a laminator! That's right, and it a great present, one of the best ever! I've been wanting a laminator since I was in yr6, primary school, when I got to laminate something for the teacher one day, and ever since I've been fascinated by laminators, wanting one of my own. But years went by and I never got one. Eventually I forgot all about wanting a laminator. And this Christmas what do you think I find under the Christmas tree? That's right a laminator! I was really happy, and kept exclaiming that I was going to laminate the world!! Santa also gave me a book(John Marsden's 'Circle of Flight', the last book in the Ellie Chronicles), photo frame and candy. So happy!!!
In the afternoon me and Linda went to a Christmas party, and our parents went to a Russian party. After the Christmas party Linda's friend Mila came over to spend the night and boy did we have fun!! We went to see the Christmas lights (we also had some on our house!!) ate party food and watched movies, and went crazy. It was really fun. We even slept under the Christmas tree!! On boxing day we went shopping, and then watched the movie 'Charlotte's Web' at the cinemas which was sad and I cried. Personally, I have to say that I prefer the cartoon version of Charlotte's Web. I love that cartoon!
I can't believe Christmas is over. It's amazing how long we spend anticipating Christmas to come, and then it finally comes, and goes in a flash, and then it's over. I always feel a bit sad about that. Oh well, there is still the New Year celebration to come. Yea!!
God Bless everyone in this Christmas season and looking forwards to the upcoming New Year!!

Events of December

I have just had my ballet performance last Saturday, and it was great! But it was over way too fast!! I mean, every year my mum's dance school puts on a performance (this year it was called "Christmas time on Cuba Street". I was a ghost!!) and we spend what seems like forever rehersing for it. It's really exciting, but when it comes to an end I feel so sad... oh well, there'll be another perfprmance next year and next year and so on so that's ok.

On Wednesday (20th Dec) was my Dad's birthday so we had guests come over for dinner. Then yesterday we put up our Christmas tree, and so now it actually feels like Christmas is coming. Before that, it kind of didn't feel like it, but now the house is looking all cheerful and festive. We have a Christmas tree growing in a cart in our backyard, and we bring in inside each year to decorate. Unfortunately it grows so fast that next year it will be be too big to fit in the house so we will plant it in our backyard and decorate it outside. So I guess we'll have to look for a new Christmas tree.

I can't believe Christmas is in just a few days! Mum and Dad go out every Christmas to a Russian party (which I also went to last year, but it was not much fun for me) so me and my sister have been invited to spend Christmas at a friend's house. That should be interesting.

Linda has just finished her time at Ss Peter and Paul School, it was very sad for her and she was quite upset about it. I can sympathise. I know how much you can get used to a place and then you have to leave and it feels horrible. But I'm sure she will enjoy college a lot, and besides, all her Ss Peter & Paul friends will be with her at Sacred Heart College so she doesn't have to worry about not knowing anyone. I think she'll have lots of fun.

Success

Success is failure
turned inside out,
The silver tint
to the clouds of doubt,
And you can never tell
how close you are,
You may be near
when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight
when you're hardest hit,
It's when thingd seem at worse
that you must not quit.

...another year has gone...

I can't believe the year has gone so fast! It seems as though just yesterday I was anticipating my first ever day at Victoria University... and now I have officially finished my first year!! And several days ago I found out that I passed everything!! Yeeaaa!!! So happy!!! I was very relieved, because the subjects that I was taking were not exactly what I'd call 'easy'.

I am doing a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Cell and Molecular Biology (which I just decided a couple of days ago) and this year my 8 papers (subjects) included various versions of chemistry, biology, psychology and education. My favourite paper overall has been a bio paper titled 'Human evolution, reproduction and sexuality'. I know I know it sounds a bit strange, but it is really all about life, and covers things that all beings go through, from birth to death. I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in studying biology at Victoria University.

I decided to have a major in cell biology several days ago when I discovered that if I major in general biology, (which was my prevoius plan) I don't think I'd be able to go on to do any post graduate study in science, which I'm hoping to do. Nothing too fancy like a PhD or anything. I'd just like to do a year of Honours or Masters, and then go to teachers college and become a teacher, which is what I really want to do.

So this is where I am at the moment in life. Now that I've finished all my studies for the year, I have almost till the begining of March to do anything I want!! Happy Holidays Everyone!!

My sister Linda is about to graduate from Ss Peter & Paul's and go off to Sacred Heart College. I can't really explain why, but I feel very excited for her. Maybe because I understand what an important step in life it is to start college. In my opinion, our college years are the most important years of our lives. If it wasn't for my experiences at college, I would probably not be where I am today. I'm sure she (Linda) will feel the same way some day. I'm going to her graduation ceremony today, so that should be interesting.

Been keeping in touch with many of my friends from school. It's amazing to hear what everyone is up to, and where lives have taken people. Selene is in England studying at college, Jazzy is in Christchurch down south in Canterbury University, Anita is in Otago, just finished first year Health science... everyone is scattered all over the place. It's great to know that despite that, we still keep in touch and remain friends.

God Bless everyone at this time, December is just so magical... Christmas, New Year... celebrating the end of a fullfilled year and the start of a new begining.

Here I am, this is me...

Hello all my friends!
I have been inspired by several of my wonderful friends to start my own blog, my diary.
So here I am, as I see myself, a free spirit, writing to you about my life- dreams, hopes, worries and ambitions. The things that go on in my day to day life, I hope to share with you,
With much love forever
