...my holidays...

Holidays are great!
Today my friend Theresa arrived from Auckland and we went to pick her up at the airport at 7:15am! The weather was terrible and the plane was 45 minutes late. Luckily all was well and she arrived safely. So great to see her again! We sure have a lot of catching up to do since January (when I saw her last!)!!Me and Theresa met at Hands-on-Science camp in Otago, 2005

I finally decided what courses I want to take this upcoming semester, so just now I went online to change my courses! Yeehhaa!! No more chemistry, and instead I'm taking an english paper titled 'forms of litrature'!! So exciting!! It's all about reading books and writing essays!! Hopefully my upcoming semester will be more exciting and less stressful than my previous one! Hey, at least I won't have to stay up till past midnight and get up at 5am to write chemistry lab reports! :) I sigh with relief!!

So far my holidays have been great! I spent lots of time reading books (Connan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes Mysteries in English and Russian!!) and also meeting up with friends. My friend Christina came back from Palmerston North so we got a chance to catch up! (had no idea she was coming down) Hopefully we will meet up again before she goes back at the end of next week! Also met up with a friend from college which was nice too.

I am quite excited because the new Harry Potter movie (order of phoenix) is coming out on the 12th of July! I thought it was coming in November, so it was a nice surprise to find that it is actually coming out now! On the other hand I thought that the final Harry Potter book comes out on the 21st of June when it's actually the 21st of July!! That was disappointing:(

I'm sure the rest of the holidays will be great, I will be showing Theresa around Wellington going to places like Te papa, botanical gardens, Lampton Quay, Oriental Parade etc etc... I also want to show her around Lower Hutt, going to Queensgate, and showing her my school and college. She is staying at my house for almost a week so we will have plenty of time to catch up!:)!

Happy Holidays!!

Horray!!! Exams are officially over!!! Well now it is the end of the first semester!! Holiday time!!!
Now I have 3 weeks to muck around and do my own thing!!!! Feels quite weird though not having to study for anything... By the way, I have a new random habit of ripping up the exam paper (the one with the questions on it) after coming out of an exam. It feels really good!

I'm going to be doing lots of art and pleasure reading these holidays, reading Sherlock Holmes novels and going broke buying all the novels... heh heh heh. When I fancy a certain book series I have to get them all!!! By the way, the final Harry Potter book is coming out tomorrow! Going to go and get that too! Heh! Heh! I just love buying books! :)...But I have to say I love Sherlock Holmes novels way better! But I really want to know what happens in the end!

In the weekend it was Linda's birthday, and she had a dress up party! I was Sherlock Holmes! Hence the photos that follow. (and above!)
The pipe was so cool!
In a few weeks time my friend Theresa will be coming to visit, as might have mentioned earlier, so I will be showing her around Wellington. Appart from me finishing exams, (I only had 2 which was kind of weird, I got quite sick studying the same thing over and over again!) nothing else much has been going on. Yesterday I came home from my exam and it felt so empty not having anything to study for! Weird huh? My desk looks so empty!! Oh well, I'm sure I will get into holiday mode soon enough! :):):)

Waterbugs and Dragonflies

This is a really nice story that I thought I'd share with you:

Down below the surface of a quiet point lived a colony of water bugs. They were happy there, living far away from the sun. For many months they were busy, scurrying over the soft mud on the bottom of the pond.
They noticed that every once in a while a waterbug lost interest in going about with its friends. Clinging to the stem of a pond lily, it gradually moved out of sight and was seen no more.
‘Look!’ said one of the waterbugs. ’Where is that bug going.

Up, up, up the bug went slowly. Even as they watched, the waterbug disappeared from sight. Down below, the rest of the waterbugs waited and waited, but it did not return.

‘That’s funny!’ said one waterbug to another.

‘Wasn’t she happy here?’ asked a second waterbug.

‘Where do you suppose she went?’ wondered a third.

N one had the answer. They were greatly puzzled. Finally, one of the waterbugs, a leader in the colony, said, ‘I have an idea. The next one of us who climbs up the lily stalk must promise to come back and tell us where he or she went and why’.

‘We promise’, they said solemnly.

One spring day, not long after, the very waterbug who had suggested the plan found himself climbing up the lily stalk. Up, up, up, he went. Before he knew what was happening, he had broken through the surface of the water and fallen onto the broad, green pad above. When he awoke, he looked about with surprise. He could not believe what he saw. A startling change had come to his old body. His movement revealed four silver wings and a long tail. Even as he struggled, he felt an impulse to move his wings. The warmth of the sun soon dried the moisture from the new body. He moved his wings again and suddenly found himself up above the water. He had become a dragonfly. Swooping and dipping in great curves, he flew through the air. He felt exhilarated in the new atmosphere. By and by, the new dragonfly lighted happily on a lily pad to rest.

At that moment, he chanced to look below to the bottom of the pond. Why, he was right above his old friends, the waterbugs! There they were, scurrying about, just as he had been doing some time before. Then the dragonfly remembered the promise: ’The next one of us who climbs up the lily stalk will come back and tell the water and bounced away. Now that he was a dragonfly, he could no longer go into the water.

‘I can’t return!’ he said in dismay. ‘At least I tried, but I can’t keep my promise. Even if I could go back, not one of the waterbugs would know me in my new body. I guess I’ll just have to wait until they become dragonflies too. Then they’ll understand what happened to me and where I went’.

And the dragonfly winged off happily into its wonderful world of sun and air!

End of classes

Well, classes for this trimester are finally over! The last few weeks were so unbearable, and this week was even worse because I had tests every single day!! Did so much study but everything is just so hard... Sigh. I pray for everything to be well, pray for the best.
Now I'm on study leave, and then classes don't start again till July sometime. After a lot of pain and suffering I finished my chemistry lab course, and now I never have to do chemistry ever again!! Yeeeehhaaaa!!!!!!!! So happy, it had caused me so much stress and suffering!

I've recently taken a great interest in Sherlock Holmes, after waching several Russian films, and now I'm collecting and reading all his books, and watching the films second time round! Today I went to the mall and bought a big book of his stories which I will read inbetween my studies. A nice reward for surviving this term. I really hope that next term will turn out better, because this current trimester I haven't enjoyed it very much at all. :(

On the bright side, it will be Linda's birthday soon and she's having a party for her lucky 13th and everyone dresses up as a character from a novel/movie. Exciting! I'm going to be Sherlock Holmes! :)

I'm so glad it's study leave now, I can go to bed early now and not having to get up at 5am to write chemistry reports, it's all just study for exams and I only have two, so I pray that it will all be well.
