Missing friends...

Me and Selene
Jasmine came to visit me several days ago, haven't seen her for over a year! We had such a nice time together, talking and catching up and listening to malaysian/chinese music, and I felt like we were never appart. She showed me many photos of her family and England and Malaysia, and I felt like crying becaouse I haven't seen Selene for so long, and it made me think of all the good times we had together. In the meantime as I mentioned earlier I fell in love with malaysian/chinese music so Jasmine gave me some of the music she had. She said that the type of songs that I like were the same as what Selene likes (ie. melodious and peaceful and gentle) so she gave me some of that type of music. Now I always listen to it when I'm studying, and it also makes me think of Selene what a great friend she is and how much I miss her now that she is so far away.

God, thank you for all the friends you have given us. May our friendships continue for ever and ever, no matter how far away we are, I pray that you keep us close together in our hearts.

Back to Uni

Jazzy and Me
Jazzy, Me and Veronica
Went back to uni this week! So sad the holidays are over :( But I have to say this week was ok, and boy was it over fast! 5 more weeks and it's the end of the first semester! Yikes!!

Jasmine came to visit, it was sooo great to see her again! Haven't seen her for a long time! We had such nice talks, and it felt like we were never appart. Relationships can change over time, but I'm so glad our friendship is still the same.

Jazzy introduced me to chinese/asian music that I fell in love with!!! My favourite song is 'endless love'. Thank you for giving me all that music, I listen to it all the time now when I'm doing my lab reports! I also emailed Selene and she also recommended some music to me. Unfortunately I don't know much about downloading stuff from internet and our computer is not very fast. But luckily I have a Malaysian friend from uni who likes the same style of Asian music as me so I asked her to record some music for me! Yea!! I really want to learn how to use the computer more...

Me and Jazzy had a wonderful time! It was great to see photos that Jazzy showed me of her family and England. England is sooo beautiful!! ...But now that I saw all those photos I started to miss Selene a lot, and I felt so sad because I haven't seen her for a long time. Although we still keep in touch a lot through email and internet! Good old internet!!!!

Now when I listen to asian music I think of Jazzy and Selene.

Appart from Jazzy coming to visit, my holidays have been pretty dull. Mum went to Australia for a week, and Dad was painting the roof and fell off the ladder. It was scary, but he's ok now, he only hurt his arm and bruised his forehead, but it was still scary. So I spent the first week looking after Dad and Linda, and then the second week Jazzy came so that was the highlight of my holidays! Oh and also, I met up with Mum's friend who is a chemist and she said she can help me with chemistry at any time, and that she'll even check my lab reports for me each week! So now I don't have to worry about chemistry so much, I'm so relieved!!! :)

My favourite subject is still metabolism by the way.

Hey, I've got some more news: I decided I might take some English papers at uni sometime! I've been missing english quite a bit since I started uni, as I've always enjoyed english at school. So yeah, I might take some english papers and that means that I can have 3 teaching subjects!!! Bio, chem and english! That will be such a good combination since usually not many people like english and science at the same time, it's normally science and maths that go together. So I could have an interesting combination of subjects!! Originally, at the begining of the holidays when I was having a chemistry crisis I was thinking of dropping chemistry next semester and taking an English paper instead. But if I do that I will feel guilty. However now that I have mum's friend who can help me I feel more secure, so I probably will still take chemistry next term.

Speaking of Asian stuff, I'm also in love with chinese food (not that I haven't been before...)! When dad fell off the ladder, Linda's friend Clare who is chinese was at our house, and when dad went to the hospital we weren't sure when he'd be back, so Clare's mum bought over chinese food for us for dinner!! There was so much of it that I spent the next 4 days eating chinese food all day!! It was wonderful!!! Unfortunately, my family is not a fan of asian food, so we don't buy it, but I decided that after my exams which are coming up (!!!!) I'm going to have chinese food to celebrate end of exams (in June)!!!!!! :):):)

HAVE A GREAT EASTER EVERYONE!!!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!!

Wow I can't believe half the trimester is over! I really need a break, and loong sleep-ins!!! Have been getting up at about 5am each morning for the past few weeks to do reports etc etc. I thought this week would never end!! I was sooo tired yesterday and I had a cell bio test and a bio lab report due. It was a very long day, and I'm just glad it's over. I was also worried about my chem lab report that's due in after the holidays, and tried to find my chem friends who can help me but they've all disappeared, and then I asked the guy that is our lab demonstrator but he confused me even more, so I was having a crisis but then I realized that my parents have friends who are chemists so hopefully they will help me in the holidays with my evil lab report. I also have a bio lab report due after the holidays but all that can wait till the second week. Right now I'm going to much around, read books, and do fun stuff!!!! Yeeehhhaaa!!!

At the moment Dad is working on painting the house and roof! Our roof will be orange - sparkling orange!!! (don't ask me, Mum chose the colour!) and the house-peach (pale)!...Will be interesting to see what it looks like when it's done!So how has everyone been lately? Still alive, I hope! End of the term is always such a challenging time because you know that holidays are just round the corner and it's so hard to concentrate on anything seriously!

I've been reading a book about a girl who is an artist, and have been inspired to do some art. Unfortunately, I like drawing people and there is normally no one to pose for me... hopefully I can figure something out. Oh I just love the holidays!!! I woke up this morning after sleeping in and I felt so happy!!!! :)I hope that everyone is well!Wishing you all a HAPPY HOLIDAY once again!!!! :):):)

...some teaching quotes...

"There are two kinds of teachers: the kind that fill you with so much quail shot that you can't move, and the kind that just give you a little prod behind and you jump to the skies." -(Robert Frost)

"Spoon feeding in the long run teaches us nothing but the shape of the spoon." -(G.M. Forster)

"Most of us end up with no more than five or six people who remember us. Teachers have thousands of people who remember them for most of their lives." -(Andy Rooney)

"I was in a restaurant once whe the assistant manager came up to me and said "Mr Jones! You taught me in eighth grade seven years ago. This is a little corny, but I want to show you something." He pulled out of his wallet a picture of me, and said, "Whenever I need some inspiration, i look at your picture and remember all the things you taught me about life." That is what teaching is all about. -(David Jones) (...that one made me cry)

An update for March... did you know that chemistry is evil?!

Hello everyone! A couple of weeks ago I had the most horrible week ever thanks to a certain subject...it that must not be named.... Grrrr so stupid, I even missed two lectures on metabolism because of it!! Labs used to be fun last year and now...they don't tell us ANYTHING they just expect us to know everything and do it all on our own. And the lab techncian is sooo stupid, she goes around yelling at people, she yelled at me 3 times during a single lab for nothing! Something to do with putting a pipette on the bench...(???) I was so upset. And then we had to write up our lab report and it was so hard and confusing, because nobody ever explains anything. So then I had to ask my friend to help me (he's a chemistry genius) but he was only free at the time I had my metabolism lecture, so then I tried to figure it out and researching on the internet but there was nothing (got up at 5am for 3 days in a row to do the stupid lab report) so then I started freacking out, so had no choice but to miss my metabolism lectures (2!!) so he could help me. I felt so guilty about that since it's my favourite subject... stupid stupid ________!!!!!

But it was even hard for him (!!!) so he said we should go and ask the chem lecturer so I reluctantly went with him and she was so nasty about it, not helpful at all and she was sounding like "how could you not know this blah blah blah its straight forward. Yeh right! Making us feel totally stupid about it. I was so mad!!!! If they actually bothered to explain things to us this this wouldn't be a problem...!!! :(!!!! Anyway, yesterday once again I missed my metabolism lecture, and was a nervous wreck but then I went at the end of the lecture to get the notes from the lecturer and she was really nice about it, I respected her for that, and she said I can come and see her any time if I didn't understand something or had any problems. See, biology lecturers are smart and nice and good!!! Unlike others... Grrr!!!!Well anyway, eventually I scribbled my way through that lab report (cursing it in process) and got rid of it as fast as I could. Grrrrr!!!!!!

It is at times like this when I look at my biology notes, sigh, and go "Good old Bio!!!" How much I love you!!!:):):) Thank goodness the week is over!!! To reward myself for all my suffering I spent the following weekend doing bio all weekend!!! Catch up on good old metabolism and cells!!! By the way we have a really awesome cells lecturer at the moment (the one we had before bored me to death) she is so fun, we played with balloons in the lecture, learning about cell apoptosis and necrosis!!!! (apoptosis is when cells die slowly and peacefully, like letting air out of a balloon, while necrosis is a cell dying like an explosion!! (POP!!)) We had that same lecturer last year for part of my reproduction paper. She is one of the very few female lecturers that are actually worth listening to! (generally I observed that male lecturers are more interesting than the female lecturers) So yes, this is what's been going on for me...

Did you know that in October I am going to have a celebration marking THE END of my evil subject career!!!!!! Yeeeehhhaaa!!!! After I pass my two EVIL courses, as of October 2007 I will never ever EVER have to do it EVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is going to be the biggest greatest celebration EVER!!! :):):)
