Rainbows, blue skies and butterflies...
It's official; exams are officially over!! I have been away from my good old blog for the past month. And now it is time for a nice long update.
There is not too much to say about the final two weeks of classes for the trimester. It was all about handing in assignments and preparing for exams. Genetics still remained my highlight of the term! In the final few weeks of the term I finished working on my fragile X syndrome project and my assessment for that was... preparing a 'lecture'! My supervisor and I switched roles so I was the teacher and he was the student! It was very amuzing! The following week I worked on analyzing a very interesting (and yet mind boggling!) article about shugoshin, a cohesin molecule involved in mitosis and meiosis! I love genetics!! I was very sad when our last genetics class was over. SCIE307 has been the best course I have ever done, and I have learnt a whole lot more in the 12 weeks than I have learnt in my whole entire life!!!
Our last evolution lecture was a bit sad too. Our lecturer was going on about how this is probably the last ever lecture for a large number of us (who were not going on to post grad), and that got a bit soppy.
Then study period began...
I thought having exams on the last week of exam period was a blessing...so much time to study! But I was wrong! It turns out that there is only so much study you can do for a subject before you start going insane!! I had almost a month to study for my evolution exam and a month for genetics! It felt so strangely amuzing studying from my own notes for genetics!...I still can't believe my idea about the genetics course actually came through and worked! It's one of those miraculous things that just happen.
I finished writing my take home essay for media that was worth 40% of the final exam and handed it in on the 24th of October. I pray that it is ok. I have never written a 40% essay at 200 level before and I really hope I have done it right... Appart from the essay I spent the rest of my time studying for the evolution exam and the genetics exam. I nearly went crazy studying for so many weeks, when I knew that most of the people I knew had already finished exams and were partying away.
But now on Friday the 7th of November, after 4 hours of genetics exam, exams are officially over!! And so are my undergraduate years! Wow!!! I can't believe just how fast the past 3 years had flown! I came home after myexam that night and was absolutely shattered. My parents made really nice dinner to celebrate the end of exams but I was just too tired to enjoy anything much. After dinner I went to bed. It had been a full on trimester and I was soo tired!
I have been starting to think asbout what I will be doing next year, for my honours project. If all goes well, I may be doing my project in the Wellington hospital in the area of genetic counselling!!! My genetics supervisor came up with the idea. No one has ever done it before. There is a lot of paper work to be done yet, but I will pray and pray and pray that it will all work out well. I really really REALLY want to do the genetic counselling project!!!
Now that exams are over, as usual my life feels empty. It's like 'bam!' Nothing! After a whole year of non-stop assignmentsand projects and study, having absolutely nothing to do is absoluteluy terrible!! And my friend Sonia doesn't finish exams till the following week! I recently found out that Anita is coming back from Dunedin for summer! Yippeee! I can't wait to catch up with her, haven't spoken to her for a year!!
Welll, this is all for my gigantic update. Now its SUMMERTIME and HOLIDAYS for 4 months!!!! Yippeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
