Decision time once again
Again it is January and the time has come as usual to re-enroll at University. This means that many decisions have to be made- choosing papers that you want to take, e-mailing lecturers for advice (or putting it bluntly, bug the lecturers), making sure your papers add up to the right number of points and planning out a timetable so nothing clashes. As this will be my final year of the BSc degree I have to make sure that all my points add up to 360 in total so that I can graduate at the end of 2008 with a BSc. (I only need 97 points more!) At times like this I think about Law, Medicine and Vet students who have all their papers and timetables planned out for them so they don’t have to plan anything or make decisions. On the other hand if everything is planned out for you, you don’t have the freedom to choose what you want to do- and I like the freedom to choose what I want to study!!
Since it is my final year I have to do really well in all my subjects because in 2009 I want to do a year of post graduate study- honors, so I have to get really good grades in all my subjects this year. So I decided to take 7 papers this year instead of 8 as I previously took for the past two years, as third year papers will have higher workload and I want to focus really really well on all my papers and get really good grades.
My New Years Resolution is to get all A’s this year
So far I decided to take for sure, two genetics papers, one evolution paper, a biology laboratory paper and two English papers (although I’m not sure about one of them yet). I’m still thinking about whether or not to take a second bio lab paper or a marine biology paper. Last year I took a paper on marine biology and enjoyed it a lot! One of my favourite papers at University! So it would be a shame if I don’t take any more marine biology papers… and the marine biology paper fits well into my timetable! Still thinking about it though… I will take all my enrollment papers with me on holiday so I can have more time to think- and send my enrollment in before Jan 25th!!!
I also have two powerful debates to compose. The English and marine biology papers that I want to take have some prerequisite papers that I haven’t done so I have to fill out a form to get exemption from the perquisites. This means that I have to write an effective, persuasive debate to convince the HODs to give me exemptions from the prerequisites. But to do this you have to be in the right mood to write, and so far I haven’t experienced this mood. This will be something else that I will have to do while on holiday…. Hopefully the right mood will come over me soon…
…Will go back to packing now…I hope everything fits… :) :):)

Good luck with choosing your papers. So does it mean that you will graduate with BSc first before going for your post-grad study?
