Happy New Year!!!

On Dec 31st we celebrated the end of 2007 and the new begining of 2008! Every year me and my family celebrate New Year at home (one or two times we tried celebrating new years away from home but it's just not the same). Some years guests come around, while other years it is just a family celebration. This year we had a couple of Mum and Dad's friends Lena and Tony come over to celebrate New Years with us as well as our really nice next door neighbour Barry-who reminds me of Santa Clause!

We spent the day preparing everything-food, costumes. I made a seafood dish with prawns and surimi and mussels and squid rings...I love seafood!! I also helped Mum bake the cake and I decorated it...
2008- The year of the Rat
(according to Chinese horoscopes)

Every year on New Year's we all dress up in various costumes! For the past two years I dressed up as a sun princess wearing my orange yr13 ball dress (I love it soo much!!) but this year I wanted a change... ...so...
...Hermione Granger comes to Lower Hutt!!!
Dad made a BBQ, and by that time the guests arrived (around 7pm). Dad finished preparing the BBQ and the rest of us got the table set up. Everyone looked great dressed up!!Then, for the next few hours we ate, drank and talked, saying many toasts for 2007 and 2008.
I had a lot of fun with my ginger beer which is my absolute favourite drink. Unfortunately unlike the many wine/champagne bottles there was only one bottle of ginger beer, so I had to make sure it lasted the whole night (I'll remember next time to make sure we get several bottles. I didn't know I what that severely addicted to it!). We danced to our favourite music and sang songs!
Even Misty and Lola were keen to join in the fun!
By the time we got to dessert it was almost midnight so we said more toasts and drank champagne-farewelling 2007. At 12'oclock we all went out to the back yard and watched as Dad set off fireworks!! We always save some from guyforkes for new years. So pretty!!
Afterwards we went back inside and had dessert (and cake!!!), talked and danced some more. It was 3am when the guests left, and we all went to bed soon after. It had been a really awesome night, and I'm sure that it marked the begining of a really awesome year!!!
Once again, Happy New Year Everyone!!!
