Babysitting

On Monday I babysat again for 3 boys, who I’ve already babysat before sometime during the year. It was really awesome because I already knew the family and also knew that the boys who are approximately 8, 11 and 13 years old love Harry Potter. Last time I babysat I bought over the video Harry Potter and the philosopher’s stone so the boys enthusiastically spent the time watching it. This time I bought over Harry Potter and the Chamber of secrets so we spent all night watching it. Unfortunately the boys’ bed time came around before we finished the movie so I promised them that I’ll bring the video again next time I baby-sit. It was really quite after they went to bed and the house was so still! I then read a book (after locking up the whole house) until the parents got home. It was a really enjoyable overall. I told the parents that I’m available for the next 3 months and I really hope that I’ll get to baby-sit the boys again sometime these holidays.

It’s really awesome how some things turn out in life. I’ve always wanted a babysitting job since I was 12 years old when I was going through an obsession with a book series called ‘The Babysitters Club’ by Ann M Martin which was all about babysitting. Within about 3 years I had read almost every single ‘Babysitters Club’ book ever written! I really wanted to baby-sit since then, but in NZ babysitting is not as common as in America (the books were American) so my attempts at advertising and getting jobs were unsuccessful. That was a great disappointment at the time, but over the years I let it go and hadn’t thought about it until the early this year when I got a phone call from a lady who said that she needed a babysitter and that I was recommended to her by one of Mum’s friends. It was extremely exciting and since then I have become her permanent babysitter!

Yesterday Linda found out that she’s getting a prize at SHC junior prize giving! But in junior prize giving you can’t tell if it’s a diligence or an honors award because you sit in form classes.
I bet it's for French, Design, Drama, Social Studies and Religion... some of these!! She’ll probably get honors in French…
Congratulations to her! I’ll see what she gets on Thursday! So proud of her!!! :)

Just to make a few random predictions for fun. Out of Linda's friends that I know I bet Nicole will get the school sprit cup and Wendy and Kim will get the general excellence cup...
